    Print advertising of automobile sector increased by 7 per cent during 2009, as compared to 2008.High advertising share for passenger vehicles was seen under the automobile sector in print. Tata Motors Ltd was the number one advertiser of the automobile sector during 2009.


    BTL reaches out to the (targeted) audiences that count. While in ATL, you count the (mass) audiences that you manage to reach. In this characteristic lies the intrinsic value that BTL brings to a marketeer. While BTL has certainly gained ground, brands are far from leveraging its true potential, especially of being able to use all consumer 'living points'… The biggest learning is to keep believing in your point of view, your product, your clients and your people, and apply harder.

    Ishwar Jha, Head of Digital Services at Essel Group company Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), has called it a day. March 3, 2010 would be his last working day at ZEEL. Jha has been associated with ZEEL for more than four years. He had founded Digital Media Convergence Ltd, Zee Group's venture into digital entertainment, in June 2006 and during a two-year period as Chief Executive Officer, inked a partnership with BSNL for Mobile TV, launched the entertainment portal Mypopkorn.com, and a digital content syndication for the subsidiary.

    Vikas Bhambri, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, TDI International, has put in his papers. While he was unavailable for comment at the time of filing this report, the news has been confirmed by sources close to the development. Prior to joining TDI International in 2008, Bhambri had worked with some of the larger organisations in the outdoor business, such as Clear Channel, JCDecaux, and OAP. He started his career in 1999 at MetroMedia Technologies (MMT), a visual communications company specialising in billboard printing, banners and building wraps, stadium and arena graphics. Before entering the outdoor business, he worked with Canon, WorldSpace and Technology Network India, a business consulting firm.

    Raj Mohanty, Senior Business Director, Poster Publicity has quit the agency. He is moving to LG Ad as General Manager, India. Mohanty will be reporting to June Kim, Managing Director, LG India. Prior to joining Poster Publicity in 2007, he had worked with some big names in the outdoor industry, including Clear Channel, Percept OOH and Posterscope. He also had a brief stint with Airtel, where he had handled communications. His first break in the outdoor business was in the year 1998 with Salvis Outdoor, a Kolkata-based outdoor agency. Before that, he had worked as a commercial pilot with East West Airlines.

    Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (HSCI) has announced the appointment of Takashi Nagai as its fourth President & CEO from April 1, 2010. He takes over from Masahiro Takedagawa, who has served as HSCI's President & CEO for the past five years since assuming the position in April 2005. Nagai, who is currently Executive Vice President of Asian Honda Motor Co Ltd, Thailand, will also assume the position of President & CEO of Honda Motor India Pvt Ltd. Meanwhile, Masahiro Takedagawa moves to Honda Canada Inc as President & Director after completing his tenure in India. Takedagawa has been associated with Honda Motor Co for over 30 years and had started his professional career with the company in 1979.

    Rediffusion Y&R has recently appointed Rachana Dharia as Head, Digital (West and South region), a newly-created position. Earlier, she was Head, Digital Solutions, Tribal DDB India. Dharia will report to Nisha Singhania, Executive Vice-President, Rediffusion Y&R (Mumbai). She has nearly 14 years' experience in the digital media space. In her one-and-a-half-year stint at Tribal DDB, Dharia was responsible for chalking out the digital strategies for various brands such as Idea Cellular, The Times of India and Volkswagen. Prior to Tribal DDB, she had worked with a few technology companies such as Tech Mahindra and Infosys in the area of digital consultancy. At these companies, Dharia was involved with the work related to user experience and interaction designing across various digital formats such as websites and mobile.

    Publicis India has roped in Anirban Mozumdar as Senior Vice President - Planning for North and East. He steps in place of Naresh Gupta and joins Publicis from DDB Mudra. Mozumdar began his career in advertising in account management working on Tata-BP, Bajaj Auto and later on Tide, Whisper and Rejoice for P&G. He continued working on P&G in the capacity of Regional Brand Director for their hair care and laundry brands.
